Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — The latest addition to the growing list of drug busts at the Fagatogo Post Office allegedly involves a female, who went to claim a package at the local post office yesterday afternoon.

A reliable source told Samoa News that the package arrived on island with mail flown in by the HAL flight on Monday night, and was delivered to the post office yesterday morning.

During the usual check at the post office, a customs agent was alerted by a K-9 dog about the package. The package was then put aside to await the person who would come in to claim it.

Around early afternoon, yesterday, a source told Samoa News that a female in her early 30s came inside to claim the package, which was then opened in front of Customs agents.

Inside the package were 4 plastic baggies containing a white crystalline substance. The 4 baggies of white crystalline substance weighed a total of 10lbs.

DPS Vice and Narcotics Units were notified after Customs agents spoke to the female individual who allegedly claimed the package.

A source from DPS confirmed to Samoa News yesterday afternoon that their Vice and Narcotics Units were informed about a drug bust at the post office, and several police detectives were assigned to handle the case.

Samoa News will follow up on this issue.
