Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — Following a recent announcement that federal agencies affected by the partial federal government shutdown will re-open for three weeks — until Feb. 15 — the National Park of American Samoa informs the public that their office is back to its normal schedule, 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Last week, Samoa News spoke to an NPAS employee who said that nobody in their crew was working during the shutdown, meaning, there was no cleaning and clearing of trails and vegetation and therefore, hikers should proceed with caution.

Updated information can be obtained at the NPAS Visitor Center in Pago Pago or call 633-7082.

“We are grateful to have the dedicated men and women of the National Park Service back at work, serving the American people and welcoming visitors to their national parks”, said a statement from National Park.
