Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — Lt. Gov. Lemanu Palepoi Sialega Mauga (right) leading the Governor’s Office team in the tug-of-war competition during the ASG-sponsored Workforce Appreciation Day 2019 at the Fagatogo Malaeoletalu last Friday.

Tug-of-war was one of the competitions for the annual celebration to honor the territory’s workforce, in both the public and private sectors.

“The overwhelming success of the 7th Workforce Appreciation Day is the reflection of our team spirit, collaboration, and continued commitment of our Administration relative to recognizing and acknowledging the significant contribution of all employees of American Samoa which has sustained the growth of our territory with regards to its economy and the lives of our people,” wrote Gov. Lolo Matalasi Moliga in a memo issued Tuesday this week to cabinet members.

He said it “was emotionally satisfying” for him and Lemanu to “witness the maturation of leadership” within each ASG agency, demonstrated in the unity exhibited by each agency that took to the pavement for the pass-in-review parade.

“As Lemanu and I have said many times during our meetings, your leadership qualities are clearly reflected in the demeanor of your workers,” Lolo wrote. “This quality was evident and we are very proud to see how far we have come together as a team.”

Lolo and Lemanu expressed great appreciation to all directors and their employees for the continued demonstration of support for iconic administration programs.

“As our window of service to our people is gradually narrowing, we are indeed gratified and thrilled that the quality of this very important annual event soars every year,” Lolo added.
