Lions Club of Pago Pago selects new slate of officers for 2018-‘19

Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — Christopher King (far right standing) is the 2018-2019 President of the Lions Club of Pago Pago. King expressed appreciation to outgoing Lions President, Lisa Tuato’o (third from right sitting) and her board for their work and dedication in 2017-2018.

He said the Lions’ success working with, The AMEN Clinic, Territorial Administration on Aging, Earth Day Clean-Up, the Donate 4 Love Drive, Special Olympics and Summer Reading Program, to name a few, “are a testament” to the club’s community commitment.

“I enter this new Lion Year full of confidence, because I know that each and every one of you share my love for community service,” King said in his message to the gathering. “With all of the excellent community service work this past year, I challenge all of you to keep this momentum going.

“I ask that you not only seek ways to further address the needs of our community, but also be receptive to new ways of doing business and be open to new traditions,” he said. “The world is changing at an amazing pace, and we need to find ways to move along with it, and continue to make a difference. This is our challenge.”

President, Christopher J. King; 1st Vice President, Tafaimamao Tupuola; 2nd Vice President, Ty Matyjakowski; 3rd Vice President, Andrew Burquist; Secretary, Ponita Laussen; Treasurer, Carneen Cotton; Membership Chair, Mike Sala; Tail Twister, Tamatoa Tony Langkilde; Lion Tamer, Willie Teleso, and Directors - Larry Sanitoa, Burg Salanoa, Joey Cummings, Christa Satele; as well as Immediate Past President, Lisa Tuato’o - who served as president for 2017-2018.

Board members Tupuola, Laussen, and Cotton held the same posts for 2017-2018.
