Tafuna, AMERICAN SAMOA  — The American Samoa Telecommunications Authority hosted a group of about 60 senior students from Leone High School who toured the agency's headquarters in Tafuna.

The field trip was part of the 2018 graduating class' final activities before they walk the aisle as proud graduates of the Home of the Mighty Lions.

The group was led by coordinator and teacher, Tautai Falanai Jr. and a few teachers on a fact-finding mission to learn first hand how the government's semi-autonomous agency operates on a daily basis.

ASTCA's Acting Chief Executive Officer Falaovaoto Sualevai delivered brief remarks, welcoming the group and sharing briefly with them, some of the significant projects ASTCA has been working on, including the Hawaiki Submarine Cable.

The facility tour is among the efforts ASTCA is implementing to get the community more involved in its operations.

The enthusiastic group of senior students toured all four floors of the building where they met with each division manager and employees, in an opportunity to observe how they carry out their specific roles and duties.

From the groundskeeper, to security, customer service and marketing to finance, and the technical aspects of the operation, the Leone High School cubs learned how each division operates to achieve ASTCA's overall vision and mission of "Building Towards the Future."

Tusisalalau Custodio Auva'a, one of the seniors, said she would like to graduate with a degree and return to work for ASTCA, in its IT Division.
