Unruly behavior by a juvenile held at the local Juvenile Detention Center has led to an investigation and drug testing, which uncovered that the male juvenile allegedly had methamphetamine or ice in his system. This is confirmed by reliable police sources, as efforts to obtain direct comments from the Commissioner of Public Safety, Save Liuato Tuitele have been unsuccessful.

According to Samoa News sources, the young man’s actions inside the jail indicated he could be high, and the Correction Officers then reported the matter to their main office, and this led to drug testing by the Criminal Investigation Division, Narcotics detectives, who conducted an urine test. It was from this test that it was uncovered the young man had ice in his system.

Samoa News reached out to CID Commander, Falana’ipupu Lavata’i Ta’ase Sagapolutele for confirmation, however the Commander was more upset as to the line of questioning, rather than to comment if the allegations were true or not. Falana’ipupu referred the matter to the Commissioner and noted that he declines to comment.

Samoa News understands an investigation is underway as to how the meth got into the juvenile detention center, as there are no records that any juveniles broke out of the facility.

According to police sources, the juvenile in question allegedly stole the bag belonging to the TCF officer, after he saw the officer smoking ice. He found baggies of ice and a glass pipe, along with a lighter inside the bag and admitted to the investigating officers that he smoked the ice.

Samoa News understands the CID conducted a police raid in search of the said bag containing the drug paraphernalia, however efforts were unsuccessful.

It’s unclear if the CID has questioned the investigating officer accused of bringing meth inside the jail. Police sources say that the Attorney General’s office have been informed as to this matter and as soon as the investigation is completed the file will be forwarded to the AG’s office who will make the final determination on this matter.
