It’s cruise ship season and several are stopping in Pago

Passengers of the Holland America Line cruise ship, “AMSTERDAM” (in the background), Thursday, after she docked around 8a.m.

The cruise ship brought in 1,656 passengers with 647 crewmembers from Suva, Fiji and departed around 5p.m. the same day for Honolulu, Hawai’i. The vessel is on a 26-day cruise from Sydney, Australia to San Diego, California.

Local vendors set up shop at the Fagatogo malae, while the Fagatogo Marketplace offered island inspired fabric, clothing, handicrafts and displays of local fresh produce, chilled “niu” and cooked Samoan food for sampling and sale.

Farmers were also at the market selling agricultural products.

The next cruise ship and the last one for the year, the Maasdam, is set to dock in Fagatogo on Sunday, Dec. 10th from Bora Bora, French Polynesia, and departing for Savusavu, Fiji later that evening.
