Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — Samoa News has been unable to confirm if a pricey work of art — assumed to be worth millions of dollars — was damaged during a mishap with heavy equipment owned and operated by Peter E. Reid Stevedoring at the main wharf in Fagatogo.

Samoa News understands that a collector in Hawai’i was expecting an item that was shipped to American Samoa, for transfer to a vessel bound for the Aloha State. It is alleged that the item is worth millions.

According to eyewitnesses, something went wrong when the lift that was carrying the item teetered towards the ocean. Samoa News was told that the lift tilted towards to water. Luckily, a boat that was anchored within the area 'caught' the lift which was 'bumped' back to steady ground.

Nobody was hurt.
