Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — The government’s Island Wide Clean-Up Committee is calling on the business community for help in cleaning and beautifying their respective place of business as the territory prepares for the 2019 Flag Day — a one day celebration set for Apr. 17th at Veterans Memorial Stadium.

The island wide cleanup is set for Apr. 5th while beautification, which includes roadside decorations, will be Apr. 10th prior to the start of pre-Flag Day festivities on Apr. 12th at Su’igaula o le Atuvasa in Utulei.

Committee co-chairs are American Samoa Power Authority executive director Wallon Young and American Samoa Environmental Protection Agency director, Lefega Fa’amao Asalele Jr.

The committee is “encouraging the business community to organize cleanups at work, and add that special flavor and flair for American Samoaʻs special time of the year,” said Young.

Lefega added, “Flag Day is that special opportunity to clean all of our businesses of unwanted debris, and an opportunity to keep American Samoa the most beautiful place in the middle of the Pacific.”
