Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — A malfunction in the circuit board of the main air condition unit at the Feleti Barstow Public Library in Utulei resulted in the territory’s only public library closing its doors this past Tuesday.

According to Territorial Librarian Justin Maga, a public announcement was made, informing the public that the library would be “closed until further notice” due to “building maintenance issues.”

Fortunately, he told Samoa News yesterday, they were able to find the part they needed for the AC unit on island. “We were scared that we might have to order the part from off island but luckily, we were able to find it locally, from another AC unit.”

By Wednesday afternoon — with the exception of a minor glitch in the computer lab — the library was completely functional.

The Feleti Barstow Public Library is operating under normal summer hours, Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Normal hours will resume next month, Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. - 5 pm. and Saturday from 10 a.m. - 2p.m.
