Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — “A celebration of our cultural diversity and heritage” was organized at Fatuoaiga Montessori by school administrators; the Parent/Teacher Association (PTA); and supporters during the school’s International Day last Friday.

At the start of the program, Br. Donald Texeira said, “A picture is worth a thousand words”. But for International Day, with youngsters prepared to perform, he said, “A child is worth a thousand smiles”.

After the opening prayer, the fun kicked off, with students from four rooms representing the people of the Pacific - Tahiti, Hawai’i, Maori, and Fiji. As part of their performances, students sang and recited in the native language of the islands they were representing.

At the end of each class performance was a Samoan “taualuga” — helping to raise funds — a total of $2,593 —which all go towards operating the school.
