Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — Interested applicants who have been cleared by the Dept. of Human Resources for the next Police Academy will sit the written entrance exam next Monday, April 22 at 8 a.m. at the Dept. of Youth and Women's Affairs (DYWA) Pago Pago Youth Center.

According to a public statement by DPS Commissioner Le'i Sonny Thompson, 223 individuals have been cleared by DHR.

Samoa News is unable to confirm how many slots are open for the next Police Academy, which is tentatively set to begin late next month. The shortage of manpower at DPS has been a long standing problem, with a number of cops resigning and moving off island in search of better salaries.

Test takers are reminded to bring with them a photo ID and two pencils.
