Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — Cable service went off line during the late hours of Presidents Day and remained off until the following day (yesterday morning). Samoa News understands that the outage had to do with an ASPA line that caught fire and essentially affected the cable lines.

Cable service was restored briefly — early yesterday morning — but was cut off again. It was eventually up and running again, shortly thereafter.

When contacted yesterday, a Bluesky employee confirmed the outage and apologized for the inconvenience. According to her, the customer service desk was bombarded with phone calls from customers on the east side who were affected by the cable shutdown.

Samoa News understands that service was disrupted from Fagatogo all the way to Onenoa.

In addition to cable, cellular phone services were also down.
