Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — The Election Office reminds all candidate and voters that 4:30p.m Tuesday, Nov. 13 is the deadline to file in the High Court a complaint contesting the Nov. 6th mid-term election results. At the close of business last week Thursday, no one had called for a challenge.

After the deadline, the Chief Election Officer will then issue a final announcement declaring the results as official.

According to the unofficial results, incumbent Congresswoman Aumua Amata is returning to Washington D.C. for a third consecutive two-year term in office; the veto override referendum was again rejected by voters; and in the local House of Representatives race, seven incumbents were unseated including the two female faipule while a female candidate was elected to office.

In the Samoa News story Nov. 7 on the outcome of the local House race, Samoa News inadvertently, misspelled one of the candidate’s last name. It should be “Loia Gutu”, who unseat incumbent Rep. Matagi Malotumau D. Sialega Mauga for District 6 Sua #2.
