Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — A man who is on probation for a stealing conviction from 4 years ago, pled guilty to stealing — in a separate case — last week.

Galuega Fouvale was initially charged with first-degree burglary and stealing, both class C felonies, punishable by imprisonment of up to 7 years, a fine of up to $5,000 or both.

But under a plea agreement with the government, Fouvale pled guilty to stealing. He admits that on the night of May 22, 2019 he unlawfully entered the Mapusaga Fou home of Alalafaga Tanoa (who was off island for medical treatment) and stole a toolbox, a cell phone, and cash.

The 24-year-old admits that he sold the items he stole to a taxi driver, and he used the money to buy beer and drugs for himself and a friend.

The government is recommending that the defendant be ordered to depart the territory as a condition of probation.

Sentencing for Fouvale is set for July 15th.
