Besides a $1,000 donation, Bluesky Communication also presented to LBJ Medical Center’s Pediatric Ward books, chairs and a Christmas tree for the kids’ playroom, during the telecommunication company’s visit and presentation Wednesday morning.

Bluesky’s country manager Filifotu Vaai-Tinitali, accompanied by other company officials and staff, visited the Pediatric Ward and sang Christmas carols and presented gifts.

Lt. Gov. Lemanu Peleti Mauga — who was already at the hospital as part of the ASG delegation’s annual Christmas visit to LBJ — and the American Samoa Nursing Association represented by veteran LBJ registered nurse, Mrs. Tofiga Tufele, accepted the $1,000 donation and other gifts.

Vaai-Tinitali explained that the company selects a project for their annual Christmas contribution and this year, it decided on the Pediatric Ward, where patients who are children will spend the holiday in the hospital instead of with their families. She says Bluesky is very pleased and happy to be donating this year to the Pediatric Ward.

Speaking on behalf of LBJ and the government, Lemanu expressed appreciation to Bluesky, saying that this is not the first time that the company has provided assistance to the government. On behalf of the governor, Lemanu thanked Bluesky for their continued support as well as the generous gifts to the Pediatric Ward.

Mrs. Tofiga offered brief remarks thanking Bluesky for thinking of the Pediatric Ward staff and the children.

A mother, whose 8-year old child is a patient in the Pediatric Ward, said she is very thankful to Bluesky and their generosity. She said that all of her attention has been focused on her child at the hospital and she hasn’t even thought about buying any Christmas gifts.
