Biz Fest will highlight various local industries

Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — A three-day event aimed at highlighting various industries in the territory will be held this coming week (April 11-13) at the Suigaula ole Atuvasa Beach Park in Utulei.

The goal of the Biz Fest is "to promote public-private partnerships and showcase the various programs, products, and services within the industries and across the sectors," according to officials from the Department of Commerce, Planning Division.

Some of the industries that will be highlighted — and the day they will be featured are as follows:

  • Fisheries & Agriculture (Wednesday, April 11th)
  • Technology & Healthcare (Thursday, April 12th)
  • Tourism & Food/Beverage (Friday, April 13th)

Each of the six industries are being spearheaded by partner agencies that include the Dept. of Marine and Wildlife Resources, Department of Agriculture, the American Samoa Telecommunications Authority, the American Samoa Power Authority, Department of Health, American Samoa Visitors Bureau, and the Department of Commerce.

Representatives from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) will also be there, along with officials from private and public organizations who will be manning informational booths.

According to the DOC planning division, "The event is open to the public and we encourage the business community and general public to come out and learn more about all of the great programs, products, and services the Territory's public and private sector have to offer."

There will be lots of food, music, items for sale, networking, and even a few special performances.
