The 2018 Flag Day Fautasi Race was canceled by Lt. Governor Lemanu Peleti Mauga, due to harsh weather conditions, making it hard to line up the boats at the starting point for a fair race.

A meeting was expected to be held later in the day (Saturday, Am Samoa time) with all the captains to determine when the race will be.

Competitors for this years fautasi race include the Aeto, Fuao, Paepaeulupo'o II, Iseula ole Moana III, Taema II, Matasaua II, Fealofani Samoa III, Sinapioa (Army Reserve), and the God is Great (Fono).
