Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — ASG employees are being urged to support this year’s Flag Day celebration by actively engaging in sports activities planned and sponsored by the Office of Samoan Affairs. In support of the governor’s Wellness Initiative government employees are eligible for two hours of paid time off.

In a detailed memorandum issued by Acting Governor Pulumataʻala Ae Ae Jr., it is clarified that all ASG employees are eligible for this benefit, provided they participate in Flag Day sports events and related practice sessions during their designated working hours. This initiative aims to promote not just a festive spirit but also the well-being of employees as we celebrate our cultural heritage.

Lt. Governor Pulu encourages every ASG employee to join in this year’s Flag Day festivities, particularly as our community generates enthusiasm and anticipation leading up to America’s 250th Anniversary. To ensure seamless participation, employees are required to coordinate in advance with their immediate supervisors, which will help maintain proper staffing levels and ensure service continuity within their departments.

The memo continues that it is also vital for each department to meticulously record the amount of time employees dedicate to these activities, as this will aid in managing workloads and understanding employee engagement.
