American Samoa showcased at recent tourism gathering

Adelaide, AUSTRALIA — American Samoa was showcased at this past weeks’ 2018 South Pacific Tourism Exchange campaign held in Adelaide, Australia, where American Samoa Visitors Bureau executive director with buyers from Australia, USA, China, India, Fiji and Singapore.

Vaeafe said the “caliber of buyers” this year showed a significant shift from the traditional travel agent shop operation to more online travel agency (OTA) and diverse digital campaigns.

“We are representing our entire industry and buyers we spoke to...are very interested in doing business with our industry," he said in a Visitors Bureau statement from Australia.

Also attending the 5th SPTE was American Samoa's reigning Miss Pacific Islands, Matauaina To'omalatai as the Global Tourism Ambassador for the South Pacific Tourism Organisation, the organizers of the event.

Later this month the ASVB will partner with the local Hawaiian Airlines office to showcase the American Samoa at the Samoa Tourism Exchange (STE) in Apia, Samoa from April 30 to May 2. Also attending the event will be hotelier Sadies by the Sea.
