32nd conference of CCCAS opened yesterday morning

Pago Pago, AMAERICAN SAMOA — The official opening service for the 32nd conference or Fono Tele of the Congregational Christian Church of American Samoa (CCCAS) took place yesterday morning in the Maota o Tina at the Kanana Fou compound. It was attended by some 600 plus delegates from here and aboard.

The Fono Tele will run through July 22, and several church issues are expected to be discussed by the delegates including CCCAS finances. The Fono Tele for CCCAS is held every two years.

During the conference, or Fono Tele, current chairman Elder Mamoe Eveni will step down following a one-year tenure, while the current vice chairman, Rev. Elder Saifoloi Faaetete, will take over the chairmanship post, in accordance with the CCCAS by-laws. 

At the conclusion of the Fono Tele, delegates will elect a new vice chair, as well as the positions of Secretary General and Treasurer, which is currently held by Fiasili Haleck. The current acting Secretary General is Rev. Ioelu Onesemo.
