Stateside Samoan family continues to assist their country
Apia, SAMOA — Faalogo Situtuila Sissy Eric Vaa Fa'alogo Te'o-Tuatagaloa Vuki and husband Tupuola Sione Vuki jump- started the recent ‘Shave, Save or Dye It’ fund raising drive by the Samoa Cancer Society as the first public donation of $1,000 to support the family of the late Manamea Apelu Schwalger.
And may be the last to close the drive this year to raise dearly needed funds to help cancer patients.
As promised, Faalogo last week presented $2,500 tala more to the Cancer Society with the blessings from Prime Minister Tuilaepa Lupesoliai Dr. Sailele Malielegaoi.
“Sissy is a true Samoan patriot,” said the Prime Minister. “She is one of the Samoan elites who has found success overseas and sharing her good fortune to help her fellow men and women.
“Sissy’s work to continue the legacy of her late father Faalogo of Falealii speaks volume.
“I wish her well with her endeavors.”
In her own words, Faalogo has a telling story behind her passion to support the Samoa Cancer Society.
“I am very blessed to have abundant resources where we live in Utah and in the USA.
“Thank you PM Tuilaepa for always making time for anyone including me, your leadership and hard work are recognized and God has blessed Samoa in developing progress in growth slowly but surely.
“Prayers for Samoa to be self-reliant and sufficient one day. God bless anyone and any families affected by cancer. Know you are not alone and loved.
“We dedicate this Donation and Thank you to my father and mother in-law (Sione Fifita Vuki and Salote Kalilea Pale-Vuki may you both RIL & RIP) for all the great works done in our families and lost their battle to cancer. We miss and love you dearly.”
The couple is also continuing their community outreach through the Fire Emergency Services Authority FESA by funding student scholarships for the children of FESA and Police staff.
Earlier this year, Mr and Mrs Vuki presented $15,000 to FESA to upgrade the 911 Call Centre for Emergencies.
