Mount Fuji, JAPAN — Jacqueline Ale, daughter of HTC Ale Tifimalae (Fitiuta) and Fujiyama Nomura-Ale watched the sunrise from Mount Fuji in Japan on her 34th birthday.

“My family has encouraged me to share this in hopes it would inspire other Samoans to venture out into the world and conquer more challenges.”

She told Samoa News via email that Mount Fuji stands at 12,388 feet and it took her group 21 hours in total to ascend and descend. “It was a grueling experience but one of the most rewarding of my life,” she said.

Currently residing in Hawaii, she grew up in the village of Leloaloa and is a 2002 graduate of Samoana High School.

“To me, the best thing about traveling is actually seeing the things we learned about in school back home in Samoa. And I hope to inspire kids to travel and see the things they’re reading about in books and know how majestic is God’s creation.”
