LDS Pago Central Stake adds hope to Hope House

The Pago Central Stake leaders of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints spent the second day of their three-day Bi-Annual Stake Conference visiting with the residents of Hope House at Fatuoaiga, and they did not go there empty handed. The stake members under the direction of President Edward Starlight Lotulelei brought with them truckloads of gifts ranging from toiletries to beddings, to personal sanitation products especially for the elderly and physically challenged.

The Pago Central Stake Conference kicked off Friday, Mar. 21, 2014 with a Samoan Cultural Fiafia Night and included the visit to Hope House and donation early Saturday morning. A Priesthood and General Session followed on Saturday evening and closed off with the Final General Session the following Sunday morning.

Under the direction of Lotulelei, the donation was put together by the Relief Society Sisters of the seven units (congregations) which are under the Pago Central Stake umbrella. The seven units include two from Tafuna, two from Mesepa and three Makeke units (or Tongan counterparts). Spearheaded by Relief Society Stake President Tulili Kelemete, the sisters from the seven units were able to put together close to four truckloads of products that can be useful for residents of Hope House.

Together with Lotulelei, the LDS National Public Affairs Director, Kalili Hunt was also on hand to present this humble donation to Sister Faustina, who is currently managing the Hope House. Hunt told Sister Faustina Saturday morning that whenever Hope House needs help, whether it be maintenance or donations of supplies, the LDS church is more than ready to offer assistance.

"We are so grateful for the wonderful donation. Words cannot express how blessed we are and to offer further assistance, is a tremendous blessing," replied Sister Faustina, who accepted the donation on behalf of Hope House. She has told the LDS leaders that there are a total of 19 residents at Hope House, which include 13 elderly and six youngsters.
