KVZK works with ASTCA to bring Aunu’u Farm Fair to viewers

Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA – Another historic first was achieved by KVZK TV last week when they were able to broadcast live from the island of Aunu’u, enabling their viewers to watch the Aunu’u Farm Fair. The event was an economic development collaboration between the departments of Agriculture and Commerce and the people of Aunu’u.

The broadcast was also streamed live by KVZK to worldwide audiences over the internet.

Office of Public Information Director Fagafaga Daniel Langkilde said the accomplishment was made possible through the support of the American Samoa Telecommunications Authority (ASTCA) and their fiber optic network. ASTCA was able to link Aunu’u to their fiber optic network last year through their BLAST project which ties in all the islands of American Samoa. KVZK was also able to broadcast the Manu’a Flag Day celebrations last year from Ta’u through the ASTCA underwater fiber link.

Fagafaga said last Saturday’s live broadcast from Aunu’u was yet another example of Governor Lolo and Lieutenant Governor Lemanu’s directive for all ASG departments and agencies to work collaboratively to find ways to provide better services to our people.

“ASTCA’s high speed links throughout the territory certainly open up a great deal of new opportunities for us to expand our technological capabilities and improve our service to the community,” said Fagafaga. He thanked ASTCA CEO Alex Sene and his staff for a great working relationship and their continued support, and he looks forward to more exciting challenges that can bring live TV coverage to KVZK viewers, no matter where it happens in the territory.
