Jets on a roll after FFAS Women’s 7-A-Side League start

The Tafuna Jets are off to a fast start in the FFAS 2013 Women’s 7-A-Side Tournament with a strong hold on the No. 1 spot in the standings after the kickoff on May 4, 2013 at Pago Park Soccer Stadium.

 

All ten teams in the tournament played two rounds of games on May 4 and will continue to do so through out the month-long contest.

 

Two other teams besides the Jets also won both their games on Saturday but Tafuna won theirs in dominant fashion, beating PanSa (6-0) and Ilaoa & To’omata (7-0) with a combined score of 13-0.

 

Black Roses, champions in many forms of the women’s game locally, got off to a slow start in their first match, winning 3-0 against Pago Youth and then beating Green Bay 5-1 to stay in second place.

 

Kiwi Soccers, the third team also with two wins for six points (3 points for a win, 1 for a draw and 0 for a loss) after they edged Utulei Youth 1-0 while winning handily against Lion Heart 5-0.

 

Tafuna has the highest differential in goals over Black Roses and Kiwi Soccers with 13 for first place.  Black Roses is second with seven and Kiwi has two as all three teams are tied with six points each.

 

Four other teams collected three points by the end of the day and by order of goals differential, they are― Utulei Youth (4), Atu’u Broncos (0), Pago Youth (-2) and Green Bay (-3).

 

Only the top four teams advance to the playoffs after Round 9.
