ASPA begins Phase 2 of power restoration; power outages scheduled

Miss American Samoa arrives for Miss South Pacific Pageant

Miss American Samoa Lorisa Mata’utia during a Climate Change workshop held yesterday at JJ’s on the Park Hotel in Suva, Fiji. Contestants in the 2009 Miss South Pacific Pageant participated in the workshop. Next week contestants are scheduled to participate in a whirlwind of activities. Pageant week opens this Saturday and the competition is set for Friday, Nov. 27. [+]

Governor vetoes Voyeurism bill

Gov. Togiola Tulafono has vetoed the Fono bill that criminalizes the act of voyeurism, in which a person commits such an act if he knowingly photographs, videotapes, films, digitally records and otherwise views, with or without a device, another person without their knowledge or consent, where that person has reasonable expectation of privacy. U.S. House Committee OKs Political Status Education Program

The House Committee on Natural Resources has approved a bill that would authorize the Secretary of the Interior to extend technical assistance grants and other assistance to facilitate a political status public education program on Guam. US Coral Reef Task Force apprised of environmental damage due to tsunami

Rexona Pouesi is Eastern District Lions Peace Poster winner

Rexona Pouesi of Aua, a seventh grade student at Marist St. Francis has taken the first place prize for the Eastern District with this poster in the Lions Annual peace poster contest. This year’s contest theme “The Power of Peace” drew more than 70 entries into the annual contest, which is open to 11, 12 and 13 year olds as they ponder the meaning of peace and ways to express themes of peace in artistic renderings.
