Governor, First Lady in Apia for church dedication

Gov. Togiola Tulafono and First Lady Mary Ann left the territory yesterday for Apia, Samoa to attend the dedication of the new central church of the Methodist Church of Samoa located in Fale'ula, Samoa.

The governor’s office says the dedication is set for June 28 (Samoa time) and the governor is attending on the invitation of the Methodist Church of Samoa. Togiola will attend the thanksgiving dedication church service, which includes a feast, entertainment, and cultural presentation.

"I am always honored to be invited to celebrate the completion of God's house and its magnificence and give thanks for the labor of love that was exhausted in its construction and together as a people dedicate it to God," said Togiola, who is scheduled to return to Pago Pago this evening (local time).

Meanwhile, the Governor’s Office says Togiola will then depart the territory July 5 to attend the championship game of the IFAF Under 19 football tournament in Austin, Texas. Togiola will arrive a day before the American Samoa team plays on Saturday, July 7.
