Fiji floods force families to flee

Heavy rain in Fiji over the weekend has caused the worst floods on the northern island of Vanua Levu in three years.Fiji Broadcasting has reported the Nadi River, which runs through the middle of the town of Nadi on Viti Levu island, has burst its banks.It is believed evacuation centres have been set up in Nadi and Vanua Levu, while Ba is under nearly two metres of water.Amit Singh, a senior meteorologist at the Fiji Meteorological Service, says families affected by the floods are still in evacuation centres.He has told Radio Australia's Pacific Beat the rain caused a landslide in Labasa and damaged roads, homes, bridges and crops.\Definitely it has affected more homes in Vanua Levu
