Yesterday Samoa News staff noticed this fruit bat, crawling very slowly along the side of the hill behind the Samoa News building. The bat appeared to have fallen from one of the many trees on the hill and it was trying to make its way up, while one of the stray cats on the hill was eyeing its movements. DMWR was contacted and an officer showed up later to rescue the creature, which appeared tired. A ban on hunting fruit bats remains in effect. If you see bats on the ground, call DMWR, 633-4456.
