American Samoa native, and US Army retiree, Igafo Maria Brown Va’a (middle holding US flag with red lei) along with the Hawaii Veterans of Foreign War delegation attending this week’s conference of the VFW in Kansas City, Missouri. Igafo was sworn in last month as Commander of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Hawaii State Department. Igafo is the first female to hold this post in Hawaii and also the first veteran from American Samoa to be a commander in the VFW organization.  [courtesy photo]
