Eni seeks public input on two proposed bills

Congressman Faleomavaega Eni, on Thursday, invited local residents, local and government leaders to testify on two proposed federal legislations dealing with immigration matters.

One proposed bill will allow for certain long term residents to apply to become US nationals.  The other will expedite the naturalization process and allow residents of American Samoa to apply directly for citizenship without leaving the territory.

“There are strong feelings for and against the proposed immigration bills and I look forward to a constructive lively debate,” said Faleomavaega.

“To ensure that all participants get the chance to be heard and counted, it is very helpful if all potential witnesses, including those presenting oral testimony, would also submit written statements” Faleomavaega said.
