DPS investigates death of woman living alone

The Criminal Investigation Division with the Department of Public Safety is currently investigating a possible homicide in the Tafuna area, where a woman in her 60’s was found in her bedroom within sight of blood stains on her bed on Monday, Commissioner of Public Safety William Haleck told Samoa News.

The woman, who lived by herself, was found by family members who went to visit her at her home.

He noted that this matter calls for an autopsy to determine the cause of death.

The woman was believed to have been dead for several days before the body was discovered.

The Commissioner said relatives told investigators she was supposed to meet for a dinner earlier, however she contacted family members saying she was not feeling well. Haleck told Samoa News that the matter is still under investigation, and stated that there are no signs of forced entry/struggling that would insinuate any foul play.

“Nonetheless this is treated as a homicide unless proven otherwise” said the DPS Commissioner.
