Dental assistants certified for first time

For the first time American Samoa had certification courses for Dental Assistants in the territory, says Dental Chief Dr. Stanley Gurr.

“We had an external examiner Dr. Dustin Bantol from Marshall Islands to test their practical and theory and they all passed so now every dental assistant in the territory both LBJ and Department of Health are certified, this is history,” he told Samoa News. The program was fully funded by World Health Organization.

Also that Friday evening was the opening of the very first dental scientific seminar in American Samoa. This one-day conference had local speakers from around the Pacific and covered a wide range of dental educational topics.

Congratulations to the 12 dental assistants who completed their dental assistant certification program.
