Day 2: Manu Samoa wins over Wales

Samoa registered its first win in Las Vegas Saturday morning, beating Wales 26-19 on the second day of the IRB sevens circuit.  The Manu Samoa will now play Brazil in the Bowl quarterfinals later in the afternoon.

Samoa scored four tries with Samoa Toloa touching down twice while Reupena Levasa and Sani Niue crossed the tryline for a try each.  Wales led 14-12 at the half.

In other results: Fiji excited the crowd with its excellent win against New Zealand, 14-12.  The Kiwis scored at the buzzer but their two-point conversion to tie the game failed.  Both teams however are in the main tournament Cup quarterfinals.

Another hard tough match between USA and South Africa ended in a 19 all tie. Each scored two tries each.   A count back of points will determine which team will top their pool C.  The two teams have advanced to the Cup quarterfinals.

France clubbed Brazil, 26-7, Canada walloped Argentina, 24-7, Portugal edged Japan, 19-17.

Cup and Bowl quarterfinals will be played later Saturday afternoon after the third round of pool games has been completed.  Teams that fail to advance into the Cup and Bowl semifinals will play on Sunday for the Plate and Shield championships.
