Customs nets alleged $.5 Mil in meth at post office

The Vice and Narcotics Division of the Department of Public Safety  arrested a man in his 20s  over the weekend after he allegedly claimed a package that came through the mail that authorities are saying contained illegal drugs valued at close to $500,000.

VND Captain Peau Paulo Leuma confirmed that a man is behind bars after the package was confiscated, however he cannot comment further regarding this issue while the charges are pending.

According to customs agents who allegedly discovered the illegal drugs in the package, the man claimed the package late afternoon Friday. Witnesses told Samoa News, the customs agents opened the package from the bottom as is procedural for packages that come in the mail, and discovered two large baggies containing methamphetamine, with each bag valued at around $200,000.

Also contained in the package, was marijuana.
