Completion of airport road project delayed
The long awaited Airport Road Project, which was set to be fully completed by mid-January 2015 will not be ready until the end of February or early March.
The delay is due to the recent heavy rains.
Last week, motorists experienced flooding at the Airport Road area and this is because the finished course was yet to be laid, leaving a two-inch gap that didn’t allow the water to flow directly into the gutters.
Workers from McConnell Dowell are coordinating with the Dept. of Public Works in getting the job done.
Once completed, the final look will include four roundabouts and a new two-lane road. In addition, the road between the airport entrance looping around to the area from the Konelio Pele Army Reserve Center heading west near the McConnell Dowell office will have a completely new look.
