Reverend Faletoi Uso of the CCCAS of Vailoa held a ‘special church service’ Monday evening, after he was allegedly ousted from the village of Vailoa on orders from Satele Galu Teutusi Satele. This is according to Vailoa residents, and was also confirmed by Violina Uso wife of the Rev Faletoi.

Responding to Samoa News queries, Mrs. Uso stated that a service was called by Rev Faletoi to keep the peace between the villagers and Satele. She explained that Satele contacted her husband to have dinner at a restaurant, and it was at the dinner that Satele allegedly ousted the faifeau.

“Satele ousted the faifeau and the faifeau turned around and ousted Satele, telling him (Satele) that he does not own the village nor does he own the church and that everything belongs to God,” said Mrs. Uso.

Speaking in Samoan, she told Samoa News that there was a church meeting earlier — and Satele was not present — where Faletoi drew a line between what is church business and what is village business and apparently these changes drove him (Satele) to anger.

Asked why the faifeau called the Monday night church service, Mrs. Uso responded, “Because we knew that if the word got out that Satele had ousted the faifeau this would stir up a lot of things and it would not end well, so we held a service to keep the peace amongst our people and Satele. We have forgiven Satele and we hope he will forgive us. We are one people under God,” she told Samoa News.

According to Vailoa villagers, the faifeau had told them that Satele was sending the police to remove him and his family from his residence. According to several Vailoa residents, who contacted Samoa News, the faifeau’s family members were seen at the chapel, following the dispute between Satele and Rev Faletoi.

Mrs. Uso also told Samoa News that she hopes that the differences between Satele and Rev Faletoi will be sorted out soon. She thanked the villagers and other reverends who stopped by their residence giving full support. Mrs Uso stated that many of her colleagues have also stopped by their house after seeing comments on the social network Facebook about the incident.

Another caller to Samoa News reported that he had been attending BINGO when the bell rang repeatedly, like what happens Sunday mornings prior to a Church service, and to his surprise one of the village police said that a church service that night was being called by the faifeau.

This occurred Monday evening after the dinner with Satele and his wife.

Samoa News contacted Satele on his cell phone on numerous occasions however the calls were not immediately returned.
