Business & Trade Directory launched for both Samoas

Talamua Media and Publishing of Apia announced the official launch of the Business and Trade Directory in the territory on Tuesday.

Journalist and broadcaster Apulu Lance Polu and his wife Angela Kronfeld-Polu, the owners of Talamua Media and Publishing of Apia, made the announcement at a press conference held at L&L Hawaiian BBQ.

Apulu said this directory is printed annually and is in the fifth year of the combined publication of businesses of the two Samoas.

“It features information about the businesses in the territory and in Samoa in a high visibility glossy and full color presentation,” he said.

We’ve always believed that the two Samoas will grow together and that is reflected in the vision that is combined in the Directory,” said Apulu.

An example of what they have been trying to promote over the years with the directory, is the expansion of the local Blue Sky Communications when it took over Samoa’s Telecommunications Company, which was the main telephone company in Samoa.

It is one of the products of Talamua Media and Publishing, which was founded in 1993 by Apulu.

Apulu said this year’s business directory is dedicated to Samoa’s 50th anniversary of independence and they honor and pay tribute to the forefathers’ vision, wisdom, courage and persistence and their sacrifice that brought Samoa to where it is today.

The cover of the directory has both American Samoa and Samoa with photos which date back to the 1890s.

Managing Director of Sales and Marketing Angela Kronfeld-Polu said “the expanse and variety of businesses presented in the directory speaks of the growth of the business sector in Samoa since the country broke away from colonial rule in 1962. More importantly for Samoans, there are now more business opportunities.”

The directory lists telephone and online contacts for Samoa’s government ministries and corporations, Digicel’s digifix subscribers and white pages for Samoa, Savaii and American Samoa businesses.

An e-copy of the business directory is available at www.samoabizdirectory.com

5,000 copies of the directory have been printed and will be available next week Tuesday at the Western Union offices at the Shalhout building in Atu'u and Western Union in Nu’uuli.
