Bluesky celebrates 16 years in Am. Samoa

Bluesky Communications celebrated its birthday in the Territory — 16 years of service in American Samoa — with the launch of their new and very affordable Bluesky Turbo phone. The ‘Turbo’ is a 3G touch screen smart phone which means customers can use high speed internet, and it’s one of a kind, it can carry two sim cards.

In celebration of their 16th birthday, Bluesky Communications held a press conference at their retail store at the Laufou Shopping Center on Friday, where not only did they launch their Bluesky Turbo smart phone, but they also had more good news as American Samoa is now joining in the world of advanced technology.

Bluesky Communications CEO and President Adolfo Montenegro said, “first, I would like to announce that Telecom Cook Islands will relaunch and become Bluesky Cook Islands on the week of July 20th. The work to make this possible has been ongoing for over a year, the people of American Samoa have participated in this work and we will take pride in launching Bluesky Cook Islands throughout that week.”

He added, “all of these things are happening at the same time – I’m also happy to announce that on that same week, we will be launching Bluesky New Zealand. Bluesky will provide full mobile service for the territory of New Zealand, with the purpose of serving our Samoan people who are there in New Zealand.”

CEO Montenegro noted how the company started out in the territory.

“Bluesky started out in a small container with just a handful of employees – today we are proud to announce that with all these happenings, Bluesky will have over 500 employees throughout the Pacific.”

He added, “in the upcoming weeks, Bluesky will launch and announce the release of an actual Android Bluesky device. It’s specifically designed by Bluesky for American Samoa, so that our people can afford to buy this phone, at a price that’s in the reach of everyone in the territory.”

Montenegro said during his announcement, “Our goals are very big — we dream large. We want to connect Samoans worldwide – this is only the beginning, on top of that I want to say thank you to American Samoa for being there for us throughout all our 16 years, and thank you for believing in us.”

More good news was brought out and announced by the management team from Bluesky during the conference – their partnership with Apple, the official producer and distributor of the iPad, iPhones and other popular technological products that are popular in the market today.

Bluesky Country Manager Filifotu Vaai-Tinitali announced “we are very proud to announce our partnership with the phone company Apple, the official manufacturer of the iPhone and iPad – which makes Bluesky American Samoa’s first registered Apple reseller, and what this means is that Bluesky’s network has been certified by Apple to work with the iPhone.”

She added, “Bluesky will only carry certified Apple products, supplied directly from Apple suppliers – our staff were also certified and trained by Apple as iPhone experts to use the iPhones, and also we have access to pricing and materials from Apple, that’ll allow us to price competitively and offer the highest standard of service available.”

Vaai-Tinitali said during her announcement that their partnership is valuable and very important, as it’s consistent with Bluesky’s effort “to put our customers first — and we look forward to launching our first ever iPhone inclusive plans in the upcoming weeks – we invite all of our customers and the people of American Samoa to come in and enjoy our Apple certified services.”
