Biz Beat: Nuuuli Shopping Center gets new lease on life

The Nuuuli Shopping Center, which went unoccupied for years as major renovation work was carried out, is now home to several businesses, including Tip Top which offers items that cater to the high end shoppers.

Local businessman Captain Yu and his partner Shirley Bai have been residing in the territory for many years and Tip Top is the newest addition to their business portfolio, which includes a laundromat and the Golf Course Corner Store in Ili’ili, as well as CS Mart in Vaitogi.

The Nuuuli spot that was once home to Transpac has been completely transformed, as Yu and Bai continue to stock the shelves with designer handbags that include COACH, Roberto Cavalli, and Chanel.

Once you enter Tip Top, you will notice a center display case featuring 24kt. gold jewelry and unique accessory sets (necklace and earrings). On the wall, dozens of handbags, purses, backpacks and wallets line the shelves in every color imaginable.

Linen pieces including bath towels and bedding sets are also available, along with electronic items like mini speakers, Canon digital cameras, and Samsung Galaxy cellular phones and tablets.

Those looking for the Samsung Note 3 or Note 4 can find them at Tip Top, at very affordable prices.

Tip Top opened its doors this past Monday, Feb. 9 and Yu said he plans to travel off island next week, to get more things and increase his inventory. He said his shopping list includes designer sunglasses, belts, perfumes, colognes, and accessories in brands like Burberry, Chanel, and Prada.

When asked why he decided to open Tip Top, Yu said his goal is to provide exceptional items at prices that local residents are comfortable with. He stands by his claim that everything he sells is authentic and genuine. “There are no fakes here,” he said.

Everyone is invited to stop by Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. - 6 p.m. or call 699-7773 for more information.
