AYFS Championship game will be 49ers vs Raiders

American Youth Football of Samoa (AYFS) Season 5 is coming to an end with our 2014 championship game scheduled for the 29th of this month, and it will feature the No.1 seed in the league, the reigning champions — the 49ers — versus the Raiders, who have been the contenders for the title for the past 3 years in a row. This will be their 4th appearance.

The Niners, who were surprisingly trailing the Bears last Saturday 8 - 0 throughout most of the game, turned their boosters on in the last quarter of the game to rack up 38 points — all in one quarter. The 49ers, who were the “Chiefs” last year and are the reigning champions, now remain undefeated and are the only undefeated team in the league, beating the Bears 8 - 38.

The second game of the day was the most surprising game, as the Most Improved team in the league, the Raiders, really stepped up their game last Saturday, and ended the reign of the most feared passing team in the league this year, the Falcons who tarnished the Raiders during their regular season meeting.

The Raiders who came from No.5 throughout the regular season, improved their way to No.4 after beating the Bears, then onto No.3 after beating the Cowboys. Now after sending the Falcons home last Saturday, who were the No.2 team in the league, the Raiders have now ranked themselves No.2 and are among the best in the league, with a 20 - 8 victory under the leadership of Head Coach Pat Maulolo.

This upcoming Saturday, AYFS will be taking a break, as the East and West All Star teams will be prepping for their upcoming All Star game, which will be held on the same day of the championship game, Mar, 29, 2014 at the Veterans Memorial Stadium.

Following the All Star game will be the championship match up between the Raiders and the Niners, their 4th year in a row at competing for the title.
