ASHSAA Girls Vollyball roundup

The American Samoa High School Athletic Association (ASHSAA) Girls Volleyball season started last Saturday, kicking off with Junior Varsity action, while the Varsity games began this week.

The Tafuna Warriors are the defending ASHSAA Varsity Champions, while the ASHSAA Junior Varsity defending champions are the Faga’itua Vikings.

Varsity games will be played separately from the JV games this year, to keep the games played during the daytime and not have them run into the evening or after dark.

The Varsity games are played Monday through Friday with a scheduled starting time of 4:30 p.m., while the Junior Varsity games will be played on Saturday, with a scheduled starting time of 8:00 a.m.

Today’s Varsity match-ups will be taking place at Kanana Fou High School where the Stallions will be hosting the Wildcats. The other game today will have the Iakina Adventist Academy Saints taking on the Tafuna Warriors at Tafuna High School.

To close out the week in Varsity action, tomorrow will see the Warriors traveling to Leone  to face the Lions, as the Vikings will be battling it out with the Fa’asao Marist Cougars at the Malaeloa gym.

In Junior Varsity play this coming Saturday, there will be six games that will be played at Samoana High school. The Department of Education/ASHSAA sports invites the public out to all of these games this year to support ASHSAA and its athletes.

The eight varsity teams competing this year are the Warriors, Vikings, Lions, Sharks, Cougars, Stallions, Wildcats and Saints. Each Varsity team will be suiting up a JV team except for the Iakina Adventist Academy Saints.
