ASHSAA Boys Basketball season continues to showcase great action and heart

The American Samoa High School Athletic Association (ASHSAA) 2011-2012 boys basketball season is continuing to showcase great action and heart this season, with every team putting it all on the line, despite a few one-sided victories, as this game was, that was between the Fa’asao Marist Crusaders and the South Pacific Academy Dolphins, this past Wednesday, in the Varsity division.

The Dolphins came in the game with a ‘no back down attitude’ while the Crusaders came onto the court showing great respect for the team that the fans say have the ‘biggest heart’, the SPA Dolphins.

While the Dolphins did manage to keep the game close in the in the first period, the size and experience of the Crusaders were to much for their smaller opponents. When the final buzzer sounded, it was the Crusaders 84- Dolphins 21. After the game, head coach for the Crusaders, Diehl Langkilde, in a great show of sportsmanship, was seen on the sidelines congratulating the Dolphins for not giving up and playing hard until the very end.

Leading scorer in this game was Rhoderick Tarray from Fa’asao-Marist, who was able to land 28 big points for his Crusaders.

Today’s match up will have the Tafuna Warriors and Fa’asao-Marist battling it out in the Varsity and Junior Varsity divisions, while the Manumalo Baptist Academy Flames will be playing the SPA Dolphins in the Varsity division only.
