ASHSAA Boys Basketball season in 4th week of great action

The American Samoa High School Athletic Association (ASHSAA) Boys Basketball season, will be closing out its 4th week of action today, with the South Pacific Academy Dolphins going against the Faga’itua Vikings and the Manumalo Baptist Academy Flames, taking on the Fa’asao Marist Crusaders, with both of venues ‘To Be Announced’ (TBA).

In action this past Wednesday evening, Faga’itua battled it out with Fa’asao-Marist in both the Varsity and Junior Varsity match ups. In the Junior Varsity game, the Crusaders were able to out last a very determined Vikings team in a tough battle that came down to the wire. In the end, the Crusaders were able to pull out the victory, by a score of 27-25.

In the Varsity game, the Vikings came out strong and were able to go into half time with the lead and the momentum. However, with a few adjustments, the Crusaders were able to take the lead and control of the game late in the 3rd period, with Brock Goodwin leading the way for the Crusaders.

Goodwin finished the night leading all scorers with 17 total points, despite being 7 of 15 from the free throw line, he also finished the night with 3 blocked shots, while teammate Williard Matu’u was able to finish the game with 13 points, as the Crusaders downed the Vikings 49-42. Leading scorer for the Vikings was Sione Latu, who led his Vikings with 13 points, despite fouling out in early in the 4th period.

 Monday, Feb. 06: Tafuna vs Leone at TBA and Nu’uuli VocTech vs Samoana at TBA

Tuesday, Feb.07: Faga’itua vs Manumalo at TBA and Tafuna vs South Pacific at TBA

Wednesday, Feb.08: Nu’uuli VocTech vs Fa’asao at TBA and Samoana vs Leone at SHS

Thursday, Feb.09: Tafuna vs Faga’itua at TBA and Nu’uuli VocTech vs Manumalo at TBA

Friday, Feb.10: Samoana vs South Pacific at SHS and Leone vs Fa’asao at LHS

All games have a scheduled starting time of 4:00 p.m.

Call the ASHSAA athletic office at 699-1657 and ask for ASHSAA basketball coordinator Valusia Talataina for the locations of the games that have a TBA venue.
