Annual Polynesian festival in Foster City will be on May 5

Learn the true meaning of the word 'tatau'--tattoo in Samoan--and see the decorative design differences between the island groups at Foster City', California's ninth annual festival.

The free event will be on Saturday, May 5 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Leo J. Ryan Memorial Park Amphitheater.

There will be tantalizing cultural performances from award-winning professional Polynesian Dance companies such as Ehulani’s ‘Ote’a/Kaulana Na Pua O Hawaii of Hayward, Kawailehua Hula Ohana of Milpitas, Merahi o Tehani of Union City, Motu’aina of Danville, Rahiti of Daly City, Tamarii Matairea of Stockton and Te Poly Nui of Stockton.

There will also be arts and crafts booths and canoe rides offered by Ho’okahi Pu’uwai Outrigger Canoe Club.
