Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — American Samoa has made the biggest jump in the latest FIFA Women's World Ranking released on 22 April.

Despite last Tuesday's defeat to England, Spain remain on top with the United States also maintaining second place.

Courtesy of their victory over La Roja, the Lionesses leapfrog Germany into third place and the Netherlands slip into the top 10 at Korea's expense.

But honourable mention goes to American Samoa after their dream run to the semifinals of the recent OFC Women's World Cup qualifiers, they have jumped 17 places to 120th.

This is on top of an earlier jump of 16 places between August and December last year.

In stark contrast, the Solomon Islands have dropped the most in the current ranking losing more than 62 points.

The top two teams in Oceania, New Zealand and Papua New Guinea, are ranked 33 and 57 respectively.

Fresh off their World Cup qualification, the Football Ferns moved up 2 points while the Bilums who still have a shot at the world cup through inter-continenal playoffs gained 3 points.
