Alofa mo Meaola begins new service with van donated to the cause

The Alofa mo Meaola animal advocates group has been given a generous donation that will surely be useful in the months and years ahead. According to group co-founder Mona King, they were given a van by Leland Slater of Friendly Car Rentals, and are now able to provide animal transportation to the DOA Vet Clinic for Spay or Neutering appointments.  They are also able to help out with appointments for sick animals, and this service became available July 1 this year.

In order to set up appointments to have animals picked up, the numbers to call are: 252-5366 for Warren King or 256-6002 for Mona. Animal owners are asked to first call the Department of Agriculture Veterinary Clinic to make the medical appointment for their feline and canine friends, and the Alofa mo Meaola group will then be available to help with the pick up and drop off, once the appointment is made.

According to Mona, they will “only be providing pick up and drop off transportation to the DOA Vet Clinic — or a village clinic— and back home.” Summer village spay/neuter clinics have been ongoing, and times and locations are posted on their Facebook pages, as well as in local media.

The next clinic will be held tomorrow (Thursday, July 10) in Leone at the Salavea guest house. If a person plans to bring their pets for spay and neutering—which is all free of charge for the time being—they should be aware that their cat or dog should not be fed after midnight the night before, although they should be given water.

Alofa Mo Mealoa is now officially a non-profit 501c 3 corporation, and as such they will gladly take tax-deductible donations. They have t-shirts available for sale at $20.00 each, dog and cat collars for $5.00 each and some leashes are also available. Please call if you are interested in purchasing any items, or visit our booth at the village clinics, which are generally held on Tuesdays and Thursdays when sites become available.

If anyone is interested in having a clinic in their village or at their home, please notify Dr. Brenda at the DOA Vet Clinic at 699-9445. A covered area, electricity and water are needed, and the village pulenu’u must be contacted to confirm the venue and date.

“We are always thankful for any donations and our PayPal is now up and working if you know of anyone that would like to donate.” The PayPal donation can be sent to their account @ AlofaMoMeaola@gmail.com

All donations will go directly into the AMM account that is being managed by Merrilee May and Associates as a donation to the animal care group.

Visit Alofa Mo Meaola (Love for Animals) or group page Alofa Mo Meaola on Facebook, and see what we are up to says Mona King. “ Any and all input is always welcome, and the group is very thankful for  the public’s support and assistance.”
