Ace distributes prizes to to winning schools in 'Helpful Hands' program

For the 6th year, the ACE American Industries program, the ‘2011 Helpful Hands' program, formerly ‘New Faces For Helpful Places', awarded donations of building materials up to $10,000 (which includes electrical, plumbing, lumber, paint, etc.) to fix up an area of a school, public or private.

It is one of ACE's most anticipated community programs, which highlights the company's efforts to give back to the community that has made it the business success story it is today.

The company is owned by the Scratch Family, serving American Samoa for almost 30 years. ACE American Industries president and CEO is Ngaire Ho Ching, and the ACE family is composed of 110 employees.

This year, three winners with prizes ranging from $5,000 to $2,000 were selected, and awards were given out yesterday, Thursday, to the respective 1-page essay writers, and their school representatives. No purchase was necessary.

"It is ACE's way of thanking the community for its continued support through the years," said the company in a press release. (For full story, see Saturday's Toasavili edition.)
