Captain Puletasi Wong-Mageo promoted to Major

50 YEARS AFTER JOINING MARINE CORPS, VETERAN BECOMES CITIZEN

Fofo Tuitele joined the Marines in 1965
RIO RANCHO, N.M. — Fifty years after he joined the United States Marine Corps, a decorated veteran is now a United States citizen.
 
Fofomaitulagi Tuitele, known to friends and family as Fofo, recently completed his naturalization requirements and took the oath of allegiance during a ceremony last Thursday.
 
He said the certificate of citizenship is just a piece of paper, but it proves what he has felt all along.

SPC Peko reenlists while in Kuwait

SPC Jack Peko reenlisted for another four years this week at his duty station in Kuwait.
 
He is the son of Tusagilefaia'ao Keligi and Selatai Peko of Taputimu, Pago Pago, Olosega and Satapuala. Stay safe SPC Peko!



Toa o Samoa graduate from AIT

Eight sons and daughters of American Samoa graduated on February 10 from Advanced Individual Training (AIT) at Fort Lee Virginia.
 
Six of them will departing on the 25th of this month to Korea for their first duty station, while one (Pvt Puni)  will come back to American Samoa to work for the Army Reserve and another (Pvt Tinoisamoa ) will go to Fort Carson, Colorado. The eight are:
 



Six local soldiers graduate from basic training at Fort Jackson, S.C.

U.S. Army Pvts. Steffany Tavanuu, Gloria T. Tualaulelei, Brandon A. Foleni, Felila Palesoo, Agnes N. Paletaleo, and Jamille T. Pereira have graduated from basic infantry training at Fort Jackson, S.C.
 



Four soldiers with ties to American Samoa graduate from basic training

U.S. Army Pvts. Lee Liu Jr, Abelene V. Leama, Dennyboy Lillomaiava and U.S. Army National Guard Pfc. Usufono L. Tunupopo have graduated from basic infantry training at Fort Jackson, S.C.
 



US ARMY PACIFIC COMMANDER STOPS OFF IN AMERICAN SAMOA

US Army Gen. Vincent K. Brooks, US Army Pacific Commander, at Ft. Shafter, Hawai’i, was on island early this week with his wife Dr. S. Brooks, accompanied by military personnel, for a short visit while their airplane was refueling en route for meetings with some South Pacific island-countries and countries in South East Asia, according to Capt. Puletasi Wong-Mageo of the local US Army Reserve, which hosted them during the visit.

ARMY PFC DEPLOYS TO KUWAIT
 
Army Pfc. Larson E. Pulu, a Cannon Crew Member with the 1st Battalion, 7th Field Artillery Regiment, 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division, Fort Riley, Kan., will be deploying with the “Dagger” Brigade for nine months to Kuwait in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. The unit’s mission is to support trusted regional partners with bilateral and multilateral military exercises and theater security cooperation activities in the Central Command area of responsibility.
 



SSgt Sopo Toilolo graduates from DI school

USMC Staff Sergeant Sopo Toilolo (pictured with San Diego family) is currently serving as a Drill Instructor at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, San Diego, CA.

He is one of only 21 Marines to make it through his DI training class. The Fagaitua High School graduate is the son of Fanolua and Ula Toilolo of Auto.

He sends his love and Happy Holidays to his families in American Samoa and Samoa. Ooh Rah and Happy New Year to you from all of us here at home.
